Toon Fret/flute

 


Toon Fret (b. 1971, Belgium) studied flute in Brussels, Paris, Maastricht and Basel under G. Van Riet, I. Ribera, P.L. Graf and B. Kuijken. He has given solo performances with a number of orchestras such as the Belgian National Orchestra, the Flemish Radio Orchestra and the Basel Radio Symphony Orchestra. He nevertheless sees himself mainly as a chamber musician. In addition to his activities with Oxalys as flautist and artistic director, he also plays the transverse flute in the baroque ensemble Atys and is flautist with the modern ensemble, Het Collectief.
He also is Professor for flute at the Royal Conservatory of Liège and teaches flute at the Leuven City Conservatory of Music. Furthermore he is professor at the Orpheus Institute for postgraduate music studies in Ghent.
